It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of James Raymond Hall. He left us on March 24, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on August 7, 1942, Jackson County, NC, James spent his later years in Gastonia, where he became a beloved figure in the community.
James was a US Army veteran who served his country proudly. James was a dedicated electrician, known for his hard work in the county school system. Beyond his work, he had a deep passion for life that truly shone in his love for vegetable gardening and coaching little league baseball. He made a profound impact on the young players he coached, teaching them not only the game but also the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship.
Family was everything to James. He cherished every moment spent with his wife, Joline Hall; daughter, Catrinia Herscher (Robert); son, Sean Hall (Jodi); grandchildren, Cayla Campbell, Kylie Hall, Alex Herscher, Hunter Hall, and Gage Hall; great grandchildren, Xander and Roan Rackley, Willow, Oakley, and Hazel Campbell; 18 nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Odell Hall and Mary Swofford; sisters, Barbara Hall, Caroline Hayes, and Mary Alice Cothren.
James was a jokester at heart, often the target of playful banter among friends and family, and he never missed an opportunity to share a laugh. His warmth, kindness, and easygoing nature made him a friend to many and a mentor to more.
James life will be celebrated during a funeral service at Greene Funeral Service West Chapel on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Prior to the service, family and friends are invited to visit at Greene Funeral Service - West Chapel from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at Westview Gardens with military honors provided by the US Army National Guard and The Gaston County Honor Guard.
