James Ray Gragg, 85, of Dallas, passed away, Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Sherrills Ford Hospice, Sherrills Ford, NC.
He was born May 10, 1933, in Gaston County, son of the late James Ernest Gragg and Myrtle Ethel Shaver Gragg.
James was a veteran of the Army, retired from the El Paso Fire Department, El Paso, Texas after 20 years of service. He also retired from Wendy's after 20 years of service. He loved to golf, fish and play poker with his friends.
Left to cherish his memories are his sons, Rev. Wendell Gragg and wife Zelma, Raymond Gragg and wife Marie; daughter, Teresa Haas and husband Jason; brother, Ted Gragg and wife Becky; sister, Nancy Gragg Laver; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Patricia, married over 51 years before she passed; 1 great-grandchild; brother, William Leroy Gragg; sister, Joyce Gragg Roberts.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd, officiated by Rev. Mark Brown and Rev. Wendell Gragg. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
