We are saddened to announce the passing of James "Buddy" Gatman Jones, a beloved husband, father, paw paw, dedicated church member, and proud truck driver. Born on September 22, 1950, in Copperhill, TN, Buddy lived a fulfilling life until his peaceful passing on November 11, 2024.
Buddy was a member at New Life Baptist Church in Bessemer City, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and active member of the bus ministry. A true family man, Buddy adored his wife, children, and grandchildren. He also had a special bond with his dog, Chili, who was a constant companion.
In addition to his church involvement, Buddy was a volunteer firefighter at Chapel Grove and enjoyed spending time on his CB radio as a hobby. As a long-haul truck driver, Buddy traversed the country's highways, living a life on the open road that he cherished.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Diane Jones; children, Robin Tanner, Chad Jones (Angel), Jonathan Ingle (Lacy); grandchildren, Logan Tanner (Logan Hawkins), Gracie Tanner (Josh Long), Christopher Jones (Haley), Sarah Jones, Elizabeth Ingle, and Emily Ingle; sisters, Theresa Tate (Gerald), Glenda Ware, and Phyllis Foster; favorite nephew, Mitchell Jones, and Greg Tate, Jeff Tate, PJ Ware; niece, Jennie Kirby, and Emily Kirby.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Dorothy Jones; granddaughter, Morgan Tanner; brother, Lawrence Jones; brother in law, Dr. Rev. Gene Ware.
Buddy's service will be privately held by the family.
May James "Buddy" Gatman Jones rest in peace, forever remembered for his dedication to his faith, his love for his family, and his commitment to serving his community.
