James Edward Bridges

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Edward "Eddie" Bridges, age 84, who left us on December 6, 2024. Born on October 1, 1940, in Gaston County, NC, Eddie spent his life spreading joy and knowledge as a dedicated elementary school teacher. He was known for his infectious energy, earning him the affectionate nickname "Choo Choo" in his younger days.

Eddie was a proud resident of Kings Mountain, NC, where he lived with his loving wife, June Bridges. Together, they shared many wonderful moments, traveling to many different countries, and watching Tar Heel basketball. Eddie attended Midview Baptist Church, where his faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him through both triumphs and trials.

Eddie's true passion shone through in his work with students. He cherished each moment spent in the classroom, always ensuring that his students felt supported and inspired. His dedication to teaching opened doors for countless children, and he will be remembered not only as a fine educator but also as a caring mentor as Mr B.

Beyond the classroom, James had a unique hobby: detailing and cleaning cars. Few could match the enthusiasm he brought to making his vehicles shine!

Eddie leaves behind his beloved wife, June Bridges; daughter, Edie Wright (Chris); son, Aaron Bridges (Anna); grandchildren, Cecily Wright, Pearl Wright, and Lilly Hix; sister in law, Brenda Bridges, who will continue to carry his spirit in their hearts.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Ethel Bridges; sister, Juanita Swindell (Bill); brother, Bob Bridges.

As we gather to celebrate his life, we invite friends and family to join us for his funeral services. A gathering of friends and family will be held at the Midview Baptist Church, 703 Margrace Rd., Kings Mountain, NC, 28086 on Sunday, December, 8, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A service to celebrate his life will be held the next day Monday, December 9, 2024, at the church, officiated by Pastor Aaron Bridges and Pastor Mike Rice, at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Westview Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Eddie's memory to an education-related charity, Champion Christian Academy, 703 Margrace Rd., Kings Mountain, NC, 28086, honoring his lifelong commitment to teaching and faith.
