James Curtis "Curt" Cochran, one of Gaston County's most well known antique pickers, passed away peacefully at the age of 65 on November 10, 2025, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
Surviving family members include daughters, Katie Cochran and Victoria Lowder; brothers, Jeff Cochran (Ann) and Joel Cochran (Kristi); sister, Candace Neill (Randy); grandchildren, Noah and Maddalyn; special nephew, Nicholas, and nieces Meaggan, Natalie, and Crystal, nephews Hunter, Nathan, Jimmy, and Chuck, and brother in law and sister in law, Jimmy and Elizabeth Edwards.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Thomas Cochran, and his mother, Brenda Faye Ensley Cantrell.
Curt worked for Thurston Motor Lines for many years, before pursuing his passion for antiques. He attended auctions, estate sales, and even traveled across the United States to find many treasures to sell in his antique store, currently located at the Eastridge Mall in Gastonia. He had a keen eye for selecting some of the most unique pieces.
A service will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Ridge Baptist Church, officiated by Todd Terry, at 1:00 in the afternoon, followed by a graveside service at Gaston Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 also at Ridge Baptist Church.
