James Preston Caldwell Jr

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Preston Caldwell Jr., affectionately known as Jr., who left us on April 3, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on March 10, 1954, in Gastonia, NC, Jr. lived his whole life in the town he called home.

Jr. was a dedicated road paver in the construction industry, known for his hard work and strong dedication. He embraced life's simple pleasures: traveling, exploring the beautiful mountains and beaches, and, most notably, his deep love for trains. But above all, Jr. cherished his family, serving as a support and inspiration to those around him.

Jr. is survived by his son, James Brock, and his daughter-in-law, Naquita Cheatham. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Courtney and Hayden Brock, as well as his brothers, Jerry and Ray Caldwell.

Let us come together to remember Jr.'s warm spirit, love for adventure, and treasured moments with family. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, James Caldwell Sr. and Louise Caldwell; brothers, Terry Caldwell and Dwain Caldwell.
