James "Doodlebug" Blair Medford, Jr.

James Blair "Doodlebug" Medford, Jr., 64, of Gastonia, passed away March 15, 2023, at home.

He was born June 24, 1958, in Gastonia, NC, son of the late James Blair Medford, Sr. and Mary Frances Black Medford McLellan.

In addition to his parents, Doodle was preceded in death by his sister Rhonda Louise Baker.

Doodle is survived by his daughter Ashley Rimmer, sons Blair Medford and Michael Medford, 12 grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law Jeff and Teresa Medford, nephew Stephen Hardy, and niece Brandi Hardy Quates, along with other relatives including his "second mother" Joyce Lingerfeldt and cousins Robin Beaty and David Spurrier.

An avid Tar Heel fan, Doodle loved watching any sporting event, especially college basketball.  He was a skilled painter and well-liked by those around him. Everyone called him a great man and said he loved life.
