James William "Bill" Crawford

James William "Bill" Crawford, 92, of Gastonia, passed away on December 22, 2015, at Belaire Health Care Center, Gastonia.

He was born May 21, 1923, in Gaston County, son of the late James Mott Crawford and Nancy Elizabeth Whitesides Crawford.

Mr. Crawford was a member of Pisgah ARP Church, Gastonia. He served in the US Marine Corp during World War II and fought in the Battle of Guadalcanal. He retired as a Master Sergeant with over 20 years of service.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Monday, at Pisgah ARP Church Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Richard C. Lewis Jr. with full military honors provided by the US Marine Corp.

A memorial service will be held 6:30 p.m. on Monday, at Pisgah ARP Church, 3600 Linwood Rd., Gastonia.

The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.

Mr. Crawford is survived by, son, Tim Crawford and wife, Michele;       daughters, Sarah Williams and husband, Ray, Elisabeth Garcia and husband, Joe, Jessica Hight and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Ben Garcia, Kaylie Crawford, Hannah Garcia, Brianne Crawford, Joshua Hight.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by, his wife, Shirley Carrow Crawford; brother, Charles Crawford; sister, Frances Wooten.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Pisgah ARP Church 3600 Linwood Rd. Gastonia, NC 28052.
