James Taze Bennett

James Taze Bennett, age 82, of Clover, SC, passed away on January 14, 2026, surrounded by family.

Taze was born on September 26, 1943 in Clover, SC to Gene and Ruth Bennett. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded a Bronze Star for his heroic actions. Taze carried a deep sense of duty, resilience, and pride in his service throughout life.

Taze was a hobby enthusiast. His hobbies ranged from motorcycles and hot rods all the way to exotic bird rescue and building guitars. Most recently he loved building and flying RC airplanes and helicopters with the York County Flyers. He will be remembered for his one of a kind sense of humor, colorful storytelling, and dedication to family and friends.

Taze is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joy Bennett, his daughter April Lemieux (Gary), his son Rick Bennett (Sara-Kate), his grandchildren, Abby Bostic (Matt), Haleigh Gordon (Austin), Evan Wallace, and Wyatt Bennett, his great grandchildren, Jackson, Avery, Chandler, and Wrylen, his sister Genie Bennett, and his beloved German Shepard, Macy. He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Bennett, mother Ruth Bennett, and sister, Beth Greene.

His family held a private memorial service to honor his passing and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the York County Flyers.
