What words can capture the measure of a man? The depth and the multitude of talents and unique traits present a daunting task. Yet, recognizing the blessing of knowing Jim Belmont makes us want to rise to the challenge.
Jim was known as good and gentle man who had a deep appreciation for his life. He often said, "I love living," and when we heard him say it, we did too. Despite his many successes and talents, he was unassuming. Jim was quick to forgive, never raised his voice, loved to cook, bake bread and genuinely loved to laugh. He was an avid trout fly fisher able to tie the most perfect flies.
He loved and was loved by his family and friends and, according to Annie, was "quite possibly the best dad a daughter could ask for." Jim shared a wonderful life with Nancy, and she said he made her dreams come true. These things are quite the testament to his character.
His West Virginia, North Carolina and Louisiana families all are blessed to have shared life, love and laughter with him. We are grateful for his spirit and the continuing example of a life well lived he has left us. May we live out that inspiration while he rests in heavenly peace until we meet again.
The family will hold a private service at a later date.
Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, Gastonia.
