James Alfred Self

James Alfred Self, friends know him as "Bad-Eye", 87, of Gastonia, passed away March 4, 2015 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. He was born March 5, 1927 in Ft. Davis, Alabama the son of the late Alfred Lester Self and Minnie Pangle. James was a veteran of the US Army and loved to play golf. James is survived by sister, Lucy Webb and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Parker Self; six brothers, and four sisters. The family will receive friends 4 - 6 pm Saturday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia. Burial will be private in Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Marion, NC. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
