Jackie Edward Thomas

Jackie Edward Thomas, Sr., 68 of Catawba, SC, formerly of Summerton, SC passed away November 16, 2014. Born January 27, 1946 in Gaston County to the late Robert Erving and Juanita Thomas. Jackie was a Sergeant with the US Marines Corps, a Vietnam Veteran. He dedicated 20 years of employment to AIG Insurance, and was a member of Charity Lodge #62, Elloree, SC. He was a loving father to Jackie Edward Thomas, Jr. and Charlene of Ragland, WV; Kelly Rippy and husband Thomas, of Catawba, SC, Scottie Lee Thomas and Gail of North, SC; Crystal Darlene Thomas of Gastonia, and Lianna Gordon Clark and husband Greg of Eutawville, SC. Also left to cherish his memory are 7 brothers, 2 sisters, 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his: daughter, Michele Lynn Thomas; brother, Robert Erving Thomas, Jr. and an infant granddaughter. A celebration of life service with military and masonic rites will be held 2 pm on Sunday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd, Gastonia. Officiating will be Pastor Scott Whitener of Temple Baptist Church of Gastonia. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children 950 West Faris Street, Greenville, SC 29605. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
