Jack Wishnefsky

Jack Wishnefsky, 98, of Gastonia, passed away August 4, 2013 at his residence. He was born June 19, 1915 in New Bedford, Mass., son of the late Abraham and Rose Resevitz Wishnefsky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Rebecca "Betty" Goldstein Wishnefsky, his children, Renee Norcross, Jean Vera, and Leonard Wishnefsky; brother, Samuel Wishnefsky; and a sister, June Wishnefsky Levine. Mr. Wishnefsky is survived by his daughters, Dorothy Goldberg, Marcia Homesley and spouse Gary, Karen Garcia and spouse Fernando; son, Brian Wishnefsky and spouse Judi; 27 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 6 at 2 p.m. at Gaston Memorial Park, officiated by Cantor Dr. Charles Brown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Temple Emanuel, 320 S. South St., Gastonia, NC 28054 or Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054. The family extends its sincere appreciation to the caring staff of Gaston Hospice. The family is especially grateful to his daughter, Marcia Homesley and husband Gary, and granddaughter, Jennifer Alfonse for the devotion, love, and care they gave to him as they unselfishly shared their home and looked after him in his last years. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
