Jack Ellis Mann

Jack Ellis Mann, 86, of Gastonia, passed away December 29, 2020 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas, NC.

He was born June 6, 1934 in Newberry County, SC to the late Hobart Mann and Zona Ellison Mann.

Jack was a member of Chapel Grove Baptist Church, Gastonia, for over 48 years.  He retired from the United States Navy after 23 ½ years of service as a Machinist Mate.  He was also retired from York Heating and Air after 22 years of service and the Gaston County School System after 5 years of service.  He loved his family, church family, the U.S. Navy, and serving others.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, J.B. Mann, James Mann, Hobart Mann, Jr., and Bobby Mann; and two sisters, Doris Lowery and Lena Sansing.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 64 years, Sally Bailey Mann; two daughters, Sandra Mann Rice and husband Mike, and Pam Mann Shields and husband Brent; five brothers, Paul Mann, Clifford Mann, Fred Mann, Colon Mann, and Carl Mann; a sister, Annie Bolick; three grandchildren, Aaron Rice and wife Lane, Andrew Rice and wife Jody, and Patrick Shields; and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service, officiated by Pastor Roger Overton, will be held Saturday, January 2, 2020 at 11:00 am at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Robin Johnson House, Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054 or to Chapel Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 716 Camp Rotary Road, Gastonia, NC, 28052.
