Jack Lawrence Beaty, MSGT USARNG (Retired) - Gastonia, NC- Jack Lawrence Beaty, 85, of Gastonia, passed away November 2, 2014 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas. He was born February 28, 1929 native of Gaston County, son of the late, Thomas and Ollie Paysour Beaty. Jack was a Retired Master Sergeant of the NC National Guard, a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a troop leader of a Boy Scout Pack- Troop #501, New Hope Optimist and the Moose Lodge in Gastonia. Family wishes to express their gratitude to all the staff of Gaston Hospice for the loving care provided to Jack, both in home and at the Robin Johnson House. A funeral service will be held 3 pm Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service - South Chapel - 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Harold Fite. Visitation will be 1:30 - 2:45 pm prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park. Jack is survived by his daughters, Toni Beaty Lovin and husband, Joe of Surfside Beach, SC and Susan M. Beaty, of Mt. Holly; brother, Roy Beaty and wife, Georgia of Gastonia; sister, Bobbie Jo Turner of Sharon, SC; grandchildren, Stacey Montgomery and husband, Will and Christy Lovinand Lorrie Putnam; great-grandchildren, Trinity Putnam, Deanna Hufnagel, Reid and Layne Montgomery, Nathan Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Doris Philbeck Beaty; grandchildren, Brent Eric and Aundrea Marie Putnam; brothers, Carroll, Clyde, Henry and Ross Beaty; sisters, Ethel and Madge Glover and Betty Hoffman.
