Iola Gibson Lewis, 94, of Gastonia passed away on July 13, 2015 at Brookdale New Hope Assisted Living, Gastonia. She was born December 30, 1920 in Dillsboro, NC, to the late Frank Gibson and Pearlie Elders Gibson. She worked for many years in textiles and retired from Pledges. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses since 1960. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Brookdale New Hope Assisted Living and to all those who didn't forget her when she forgot them. A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia, officiated by Tommy Robinson. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be private. Mrs. Lewis is survived by her daughter, Brenda Lovett and husband Leo of Gastonia;stepdaughter, Fraces Cato of Gastonia; granddaughter, Tracy Glover and husband David; two great- grandsons, Josh and Luke Glover all of Gastonia; three brothers, AC and Roosevelt Gibson of Sylva, NC, and Wayne Gibson of Waynesville, NC; two sisters, Willamae Opfer of Deer Park Washington and Cumi Plaster of Sylva; seven step grandchildren; numerous step great - grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, David Lewis in 1958; brother, Odell Gibson; three sisters, Eloise Gibson, Eulalah Messer and Margie Stines; two stepsons, David and Donald Hall; three step grandchildren.
