Ike H. Williams, 80, of Dallas, passed away January 28, 2022, at his home.
He was born June 2, 1941, a native of the Steele Creek Community of Charlotte, son of the late Horace and Sena Williams.
Ike played baseball for the Charlotte Chiefs and the Charlotte Hornets. He retired after 44 years, 15 of those years in Cherryville, working on electric lines. Ike grew up in Waxhaw and his first job after highschool in 1959 was as a groundman for L.W. Ruth Construction. He was promoted through the ranks to second class, first class and then as a full lineman of the crew. He learned the profession from his co-workers and one of the first things they told him was that working with electricity is a dangerous job, and you have to know what you're doing. In 1970, he joined Basic Electric, a subcontractor for Rutherford Electric. He married Brenda Shiels in 1965 and they moved to Newell near Charlotte.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.
