Howard J Gibbie

Howard J. Gibbie, 76, of Gastonia passed away December 3, 2013 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. He was born December 18, 1936 in Cherokee County, NC son of the late Jessie James and Mary Adams Gibbie. A service of remembrance will be held 2:00pm Friday at Beech Avenue Baptist Church, Gastonia officiated by Pastors Jeff Cook and Ralph Carver. Interment will follow at the Baptist Tabernacle Cemetery, Dallas, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 -8:00 pm Thursday at the church. Mr. Gibbie was deeply devoted to his Lord and Savior, he loved to sing and play gospel music. He attended Beech Ave Baptist Church. Prior to that he was a member of Baptist Tabernacle for 29 years. Mr. Gibbie is survived by his wife of sixty years, Maxine Gibbie, son, Michael Gibbie of Gastonia, daughter, Starlene Wease and husband Billy of Shelby, brothers, Danny Gibbie and wife Tina of Gastonia, Ronnie Gibbie and wife Sylvia of Hudson; sisters Kay Thomas of Gastonia, son in-law, Keith Hamby of Lincolnton; grandchildren Caroline, Holly, Michelle, and Jamie and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his mother in-law, Ann Mitchell White, daughters, Sharon Hamby and Beth Gibbie; sons, Phillip Timothy and Donald Howard Gibbie and 3 sisters.
