Hollis "Bud" Burchfield, Sr., 76, of Bessemer City, passed away Friday, December 25, 2015, at his home.
He was born March 14, 1939, in Gaston County, son of the late Woodie Marshall Burchfield and Mary Horton Burchfield.
Hollis was a native of Gaston County and was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from C. F. Cloninger Trucking after 16 years of service and drove for Snyder Trucking for over 8 years. The family would like to give a special thank you to Gaston Hospice, also to pallbearers, family, and friends.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Judy Burchfield; sons, Randall Burchfield, Hollis "Rocky" Burchfield and wife, Tina, Robert Burchfield and wife, Cyndi, Ronald Burchfield, Scott McCune; daughters, Kelly Pearson, Julie McCune; sisters, Evelyn Davis and Brenda Hyleman; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Gail Burchfield; brother, Herbert Burchfield; and sister, Patricia Sexton.
A funeral service will be held 12 noon on Tuesday at the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd., Gastonia. Rev. Norman Green will be officiating.
The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be held at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City.
Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
