Hershel Boyd Nicholson

Gastonia, NC Hershel Boyd Nicholson, 63, passed away May 15, 2013, at his home. He was born February 17, 1950 in Gaston County, son of Margaret Sutherland Phillips and the late Hershel Nicholson. Mr. Nicholson loved his family, dearly, and was a loving caregiver to his mother. He was a mechanic by trade and his joy in life was tinkering with any engine put in front of him. A funeral service will be held 12 noon on Friday at North Gaston Church of God, Dallas, NC, officiated by Revs. Andy Nicholson and Jerry Willard. The family will receive friends 11-12 on Friday prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia. He is survived by: son, Timothy Boyd Nicholson Sr. of Lowell; daughters, Tammy Gail Davis and her husband, Robbie of Cherryville, Tonya Denise Simmons and her husband, Larry of Gastonia; five grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by: a brother, Robert Lee Nicholson Sr.; half-brother, Richard Nicholson; half-sister, Ruby Nicholson.
