Henry Clay Goodson

Clay Goodson, 78, of Bessemer City, NC, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025, at Caromont Regional Medical Center.

A native of Gaston County, he was born on February 24, 1947, to the late Charles and Lilly Goodson.

Clay loved his family. He loved fishing, football, and gospel music. He loved his fur baby, Lokie.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son Thomas Goodson; four brothers, Wayne, Leon, Tommy, Julious; three sisters, Alice Long, Vassie Finger, Shirley Spurrier.

Clay is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Louise V. Goodson; stepson, Tim Arthurs (Beverly); daughters, Shawn Nance (Greg), Leslie Goodson; grandchildren, Phillip Nance, Courtney Nance, Magen Nance, Kaiden Arthurs, Christopher Smarr II, Mya Smarr, Jasmine Hill, Nevaeh Baldock, Champion Kendrick; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service officiated by Pastor Ray Goodson, will be held Friday, March 28, 2025, 7:00 PM, at Good News Tabernacle, 715 Athenia Place, Bessemer City, NC. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
