Henrietta Secrest Whisenant

Henrietta Secrest Whisenant, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving and daughter. Born on February 7, 1951, in Sullivan, Indiana, to Henry and Freda Secrest, Henrietta brought joy and warmth to everyone she met.

In 1980, she married her best friend David, and they built a wonderful life together in Gastonia, North Carolina. Henrietta earned her Associate's Degree from Gaston College and dedicated many happy years as a secretary in the hospital industry until her retirement in 2022.

Henrietta's heart was big, especially when it came to her family. She is survived by her husband David, daughter Christie, two sisters Carolyn Bilyeu from Avon, IN, and Peggy Pentland from IL, three nieces, three nephews, and many cousins who will remember her fondly.

She had a special place in her heart for her two chihuahuas, Tippy and Tinka, and enjoyed walking them around the neighborhood. Henrietta loved to challenge her mind with Sudoku and word searches, and there was nothing better than cozy movie nights with David. She had a knack for caring for others, always ensuring that there was a hot meal on the table, and if you needed something cleaned, her stain-removal skills were legendary!

Henrietta was not just a lover of life but a lover of simple pleasures-like feeding birds, enjoying the sounds of wind chimes, and tasting grapes. She was an expert bargain hunter, frequently ventured to grocery and auction shopping, and could turn laundry day into an art form.

Rest in peace, Henrietta. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.
