Helen Barbara Pruitt Mcgaha

April 2, 1949 — December 26, 2023

Helen Barbara Pruitt McGaha, 74, of Belmont, NC, passed away on Tuesday, December 26th, 2023, in Gastonia, N.C. with her brother, her daughter and her best friend by her side.  She had the wonderful opportunity to visit with many of her friends and family in person and via FaceTime.

Helen was born in Kings Mountain, NC on April 2, 1949, the daughter of Homer Leroy Pruitt and Evelyn (Elliott) Pruitt. She graduated from South Point High School in 1967.  Helen worked for many years at the Chronicle Mill. She absolutely loved living on the mill hill.  She refers to those years as some of the best. She and her children had many friends there.  Helen worked at the Lowell Post office for many years before retiring in 2013. She won many awards including perfect attendance. She loved her job at the post office and made life-long friends there.

Helen was an incredible friend to many and had many incredible friends. She was kind and funny and loved to have a good time. You could either find her people watching at the casino or having lunch and shopping with her friends. She had the most wonderful laugh and laughed often. Her smile would light up any room. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Helen was predeceased by her mother and father, Leroy and Evelyn Pruitt.

She is survived by her brother Robert (Bobby) Pruit, her sister Bettina (Pruitt) McCready, her son James McGaha, her daughter Lisa (McGaha) Randall and husband Mike; by four grandchildren, Jesse (Lillie), Brooklyn, Nathan, Foster and two great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Paisley and their mammie Mari Yarborough.
