Helen P. Harris

Gastonia, NC- Helen P. Harris, 87, of Gastonia, passed away Tuesday, January 7th, at Caromont Regional Medical Center. She was born September 23, 1926 in Catawba County daughter of the late, Charles Wesley Propst and Carrie Jane Rhinehardt. Helen was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. She was a devoted Christian who loved her Lord and Savior and is now in his presence. Helen was a loving caring wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed baking, gardening and canning her vegetables. She was employed with Parkdale Mills for over 19 years. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 pm on Friday at First Free Will Baptist Church, 2316 Union Rd., Gastonia, NC officiated by Rev. John Gibbs, Rev. Darin Gibbs and Rev. William Calvert. Visitation will be 1:00 - 2:15 pm at the church prior to the service. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia. Helen is survived by: daughters, Linda H. Brandon and husband, Richard of Gastonia, Carmen H. Byers and husband, R.L. of Lawndale; brother, Charles Junior Propst of Hickory; sister, Margie Propst Cline of Hickory; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Marvin W. Harris, 5 brothers and 2 sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Freewill Baptist Church - WAC, 2316 Union Rd. Gastonia, NC 28054 Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
