Helen Montez Grindle

Helen Montez Grindle, 95, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Brookdale in Gastonia.

A native of Gastonia, she was born on November 18, 1930, to the late Grady and Dovie Stiles.

Helen was a faithful member of South Gastonia Church of God for over 65 years. She loved to cook and work outside in her garden. She loved children. Most of all she loved her family.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Theron "T" Grindle; son Steven Grindle; brothers, JB Stiles, Gene Stiles, Harold Stiles; sister, Marlene Parks.

Helen is survived by her stepsons, Rod Grindle (Judy), Danny Grindle; sisters, Hazel Dupuis, Inez Burchfield; grandchildren, Jim Grindle, Frank Grindle, Mark Grindle, Amanda Grindle, Kevin Grindle, Andy Grindle; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Adrian Franklin and Pastor Bobby Gilley, will be held Monday, April 13, 2026, 6:00 PM, at South Gastonia Church of God, 310 Carolina Avenue, Gastonia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The committal will be Tuesday, April 14, 2026, 11:00 AM, at Gaston Memorial Park.
