Helen D Grindle

Helen Stiles Grindle, 95, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Brookdale in Gastonia.

A native of Gastonia, she was born on November 18, 1930, to the late Grady and Dovie Stiles.

Helen was a faithful member of South Gastonia Church of God for over 65 years. She loved cooking and working outside in her flower garden. She had a special love for children, and she deeply cherished her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her precious infant son, Steven Davis; her beloved husband, James "T" Grindle; her stepdaughter-in-law, Pat Grindle; brothers, JB Stiles, Gene Stiles, and Harold Stiles; and her sister, Marlene Parks.

Helen was a loving aunt, but more like a bonus mom and grandmother to the families of Gail Ingram, Alan and Linda Burchfield, and Susan Barnes. She was dearly loved by them, as well as by their children and grandchildren. They will forever cherish the special moments shared around her table and the many parties and holidays spent together.

Helen is survived by her stepsons, Rod Grindle (Judy) and Danny Grindle; sister and best friend Inez Burchfield; sister Hazel Dupuis; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Adrian Franklin and Pastor Bobby Gilley will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM at South Gastonia Church of God, 310 Carolina Avenue, Gastonia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A committal service will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Gaston Memorial Park.
