Hazel Queen Wright

May 30, 1927 — January 11, 2016

Hazel Queen Wright, 88, of Belmont, passed away January 11, 2016 at Morningside Assisted Living in Gastonia.

She was born May 30, 1927, a native of Gaston County, the daughter of the late William Thomas Queen and Minnie Etta Ann Ledford Queen.

Hazel was a faithful and dedicated member of Friendship Baptist Church since 1950.  She was a member of W.M.U., earlier years a worker in Bible school, taught the youth in Sunday school, taught the adult women for years.  She served on various church committees and later taught a special adult class, the Nellie Mae Millen Sunday School class.  She enjoyed visiting shut-ins and nursing homes.  Her family also held a special place and were the greatest joy in her life.  The family would like to thank the staff of Morningside Assisted Living for their excellent care.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Kathy Pressley and husband Danny, Lisa Raby and husband Mike; grandchildren, Erin Justice and husband Jason, Chase Pressley and wife Ashley; great-grandchildren, Austin and Taylor Justice, Karsyn Lowman and Zaylin Pressley; great-granddaughter on the way, Aubrey Pressley; sisters, Gladys Doby, Maxine Ellington, Shirley Ferguson and Betty Willis.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Eugene Wright and brothers, Wayne, Warren, Mack and John Queen.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm Friday at Friendship Baptist Church, 5008 S. New Hope Rd., Belmont, officiated by Pastor Buck Harper.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
