Hazel Rice Caldwell, of Gastonia, passed away July 24, 2018 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
She was born October 24, 1931, a native of Gastonia, the daughter of the late Sidney Rice and Nora Bell White Rice.
Hazel is a member of Church of God of Prophecy in Ranlo. She retired from Wix after 37 years of service. She loved her family and church family and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her son, Bill Caldwell; daughter, Judy C. Ramsey and husband Richard; grandchildren, Stephanie Hendricks and Billy McCray; great-grandchildren Skye Johnson and husband Tommy; Scott Braswell, Destinee Braswell and Christian Lay; and great-great-grandchildren London Webb and Mila Goumillout; and special niece, Doris Barr.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Alick Caldwell; grandson, Terry Braswell; brothers, JL, Luther and Benton Rice; and sister, Irene Rice McClure.
A funeral service will be held 3 pm Friday, July 27, at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Rae Sutherland.
The family will receive friends 6 - 8 pm Thursday night at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
