Harvey Spirlin

Harvey Spirlin, 60, of Dallas, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia.

He was born on October 1, 1960 in Gaston County, to the late Alvin Spirlin and Margaret Jenkins.

Harvey was a loving, devoted husband to his wife, Donna, for over 38 years.  He was a father to 3 sons, who thought the world of him and 7 grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.  He– cherished spending time with family and with the church.  Harvey was a member of Zion Baptist Church for 20 plus years, where he served as an usher and loved to sing for the congregation.  He was also a member of the Spencer Mountain Road Volunteer Fire Dept for 25 plus years.  Harvey also held the position of Chairman of the Board for the SMRVFD.  He loved to sing, fish, play his guitar and take naps with his sidekick Shamrock.  Harvey never met a stranger and was always described as being a kind, friendly, Godly man.  He will be loved and missed by many.

In addition to his parents, Harvey is preceded in death by a brother, David Spirlin.

Left to cherish Harvey's memories are his wife, Donna Mason Spirlin; sons, Michael Spirlin (wife Millicent), Jimmy Spirlin (wife Heather), and Daniel Spirlin (wife Joy); sisters, Wanda Crunkleton (husband Danny), and Clarice Owens (husband David); and grandchildren, Gabbi Sellers, Aryana McCoy, Anniston, Cash, Kaylem, Jordan, and Lexi Spirlin.

A funeral service for Mr. Spirlin, officiated by Rev. Leo Kuykendall, will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Zion Baptist Church – 2437 Propst St., Gastonia, NC, 28056. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Zion Baptist Church – 2437 Propst St., Gastonia, NC, 28056.
