Harvey Bowman Jr.

Harvey Bowman Jr., 92, of Gastonia, passed away May 1, 2017 at The Robin Johnson House in Dallas.

He was born October 24, 1924 in Gaston County, the son of Harvey R. Bowman Sr. and Annie Ruff Bowman.

Harvey was a member of IBEW, Gastonia Masonic Lodge 369, Gastonia York Rite and Oasis Shriners of Charlotte.

Left to cherish his memories are his son William Edward Bowman; daughters Ann Carden and husband Bill, Wanda Gantt and husband Ken, Christine McDonald and husband Jeff; sister Thelma Ballard; grandchildren Arlene Bowman, Matthew Bowman and wife Courtney, Pauline Martin and husband Aaron, Julie Croshaw and husband Steven, Christine Gantt, Nathan Bowman and wife Anna, Jesse Bowman, Courtney Bowman, Calie Tanner and husband TJ; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Vera Harrison Bowman; sons Robert Lawrence Bowman, Harvey Bowman III; brother Eugene Everett "Pete" Bowman; sister Verlina Walls and granddaughter Angela Abrams.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm Friday, May 5, 2017 at East Garrison Baptist Church, 1226 E. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Charles Ledford.

The family will receive friends 6 – 8 pm Thursday, at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia.

His final resting place will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
