Harry Eugene Smith

Harry E. Smith, 84, of Charlotte passed away February 13, 2013 at his home. He was born August 29, 1928 in Hamlet, NC, son of the late Dorsey and Lucy Oxendine Smith. A service will be held at a later date. Harry dearly loved his family and had a good sense of humor. He was a US Army veteran who served in the Korean War and who liked hunting and fishing. Mr. Smith is survived by: his son, Tommy Weaver and spouse Dianne; daughters, Carol Smith and spouse Dickie, Debra Holland, Gail Crosier; brothers, Herbert and Paul Smith; sister, Claudia Roth; longtime companion, Arbutus Redmon; grandchildren, Shelby Holland, Morgan Crosier, Nicole McGlothlin; great grandchildren, Savannah McGlothlin. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: his wife of 38 years, Ruby Smith; 3 brothers and 3 sisters; grandson, Donald Eugene Stephens. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte Region, 1420 E. Seventh St. Charlotte, NC 28204.
