Harry "Richard" Ray

Harry "Richard" Ray, 79, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016, at his residence.  He was born in Gaston County, NC on January 14, 1937, and was the son of the late Harry Odell and Daisy Sexton Ray.

He was a veteran of the US National Guard.  Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He was a very devoted church member of Antioch Lutheran Church and was a faithful Christian.  He was active in the Costner School Community Watch and was Past President of the County Community Watch. He loved woodworking and fishing, especially fishing at the beach.

The family wishes to give a special thank you to Gaston Hospice and Advanced Home Health Care.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Monday at Antioch Lutheran Church, Dallas, NC with Pastor George Rhyne, officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 – 8 pm at the church.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn L. Ray; son, Richard M. Ray and wife Melinda; daughter, Michelle R. Null; sisters, Geraldean Ray, Doris Terry and husband Richard; grandchildren, Jessica R. Page and husband Chris, Brittany R. Christopher and husband Jonboy, Rebecca Null, Samantha Null, Kevin Null and wife Melissa, Keith Null and wife Shelley; great-grandchildren, Dakota Null, Jakob Null, Gregory Null, Alicia Null, Mason Page, Ava Tackett, and; godson, Chad Matthews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Antioch Lutheran Church, Garden of Peace Fund, 330 Old NC 277 Loop Rd. Dallas, NC 28034.
