Harold Bruce Springfield, 88, of Bessemer City, NC, went to his eternal home to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on May 11, 2026.

He was born on February 8, 1938, son of Lushion and Gaynell Springfield. Harold was preceded in homegoing by his daughter, Diane Springfield Costner, daughter, Sandra Lee; sons in law, Jeffrey Costner and Thomas Naylor; brother, Glenn Springfield; sisters, Lottie Alexander and Edith Kemp; and his parents.

Harold loved God and was thankful for the gift of Jesus, the way, the truth, and the life. He loved spending time with his family and is a beloved "Papa" to many. He was the former owner and chef of The Peddler Steakhouse.

Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 68 years, Peggy Hawkins Springfield; daughter Christine Naylor; granddaughter, Regina Crayton and husband, Lance; grandsons Michael Costner, Trent Moss and wife, Stacie; Stephen Naylor and Brayden Holland-Naylor; great granddaughters, Leanna Crayton and Emily Crayton; Kayleigh Moss; sisters, Glenda Carlton and Janice Emory; nephew, David Alexander; family friend, his "special youngin," Lennie Holland.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 at Temple Baptist Church, 701 Littlejohn Street, Gastonia, NC. Entombment will take place at Westview Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum on Friday, May 15 at 10:00. , with military honors provided by The Army National Guard and The Gaston County Honor Guard. A Celebration of Life Service will follow on Friday, May 15, at Temple Baptist Church at 2:00, Pastor Scott Whitener officiating.
