Harold "Harry" Sauerwein

Harold "Harry" Sauerwein, 91, of Gastonia passed away July 19, 2023, at his home.

He was born February 5, 1932, in Buffalo, New York, son of the late Raymond Fredrick Sauerwein and Dorothy Frank Sauerwein.

Harry was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law and friend. He prided himself on being a supporter and provider for his family.

He was a US Army veteran who proudly served his country. He had been a member of the Elks Lodge for many years in Orlando, Florida.

He worked in Human Resources for the Orlando Magic Basketball for over 30 years. He also loved to share stories with his grandchildren of when he had worked on the railroad.

A gathering of family and friends will be held 4-6 pm Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Road, Gastonia.

Harry is survived by his son, Eric Sauerwein and wife Debbie; daughters, Elizabeth Ann Alexander and Melissa Nguyen; grandchildren, Stacey Saunders, Shannon Lingerfelt and husband Steven, Megan Smith and husband Drew, Daniel Nguyen, Tyler Nguyen; great-grandchildren, Alex Smith, Aden Smith, Natalie Smith, Jackson Smith; sister-in-law, Pat Zymowski and husband Mike; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Ann Miller Sauerwein.

Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service located at 216 Archie Whitesides Road, Gastonia.
