Harold "Dean" Guffie

Harold "Dean" Guffie, 84, of McAdenville, passed away November 22, 2015 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. He was born November 3, 1931, a native of Gaston County, the son of the late Jesse Earl Guffie and Rushie Bell Guffie-Poole. Harold was a member of North Belmont Church of God.  He retired from Pharr Yarns after 47 years with perfect attendance.  He was owner and operator of Dean Guffie Cleaning Service since 1966.  He was also employed with Gaston County Schools and McKinney Chevrolet which he retired from as well. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of over 60 years, Janice Varnell Guffie; daughters Martha Collins and husband Steve of Gastonia, Regina Leeper and husband Jack of McAdenville and Medea Shamblin and husband Danny of Gastonia; son Steve Guffie of McAdenville; grandchildren Alex Guffie, Christian Collins and wife Abby and Alana Collins, Havan Guffie, Haley and Kearsten Shamblin, Jaylen Leeper-Williams, O'Shay Leeper and Isabella Shamblin; sisters Wayburn Gilbert and husband Charlie, Clara Hayes and husband Raymond, Frankie Woods, Netti and Barbara Poole; brothers Doug Poole and wife Sharon and Terry Poole and wife Carolyn and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Andrea Lynn Guffie; brothers Glen and Don Guffie and George Poole and sisters Bonnie McCarns and Rita Quinn. A funeral service will be held 1 pm Wednesday at North Belmont Church of God, 2316 Acme Rd., officiated by Pastors Carl Overton and Vernon Adams. The family will receive friends 11:30 – 1:00 pm prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Belmont Church of God, 2316 Acme Road, Belmont, NC 28012.
