Grier Ramsey

Grier Ramsey, 83, of Gastonia passed away on September 17, 2014 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. He was born January 30, 1931 in Gaston County, son of the late Prichard Ramsey and Rosamae Smith Dixon. Grier was a loving father and grandfather to his sons and grandchildren. He enjoyed camping and golfing and was the Assistant Golf Pro at the original Gaston Country Club. A celebration of Grier's life will be held noon on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd. Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Roger Overton and the Rev. Will Holland. The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Westview Gardens Cemetery, Bessemer City. Left to cherish his memories are his sons, Tim Ramsey and wife Jennifer of Gastonia, Mike Ramsey and wife Leann of Robbinsville, NC; brother, Tommy Jones and wife Brenda of Gastonia; sister, Faye Barnett of Anderson, SC; grandchildren, Ethan Ramsey and Lauren Ramsey; sister-in-law, Bobbie Holland and husband David of Gastonia; brother-in-law, Dr. Fred Pilkington and wife Annette of Concord; numerous nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his wife, Evanell Pilkington Ramsey; brother, Eugene Ramsey.
