Grady Daniel Truett Sr.

Grady Daniel Truett Sr., 76, of Bessemer City, passed away February 10, 2025, at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. He lived a wonderful life filled with lots of love. He was devoted to his family and made their happiness a priority in his life.

He was born on December 22, 1948, in Cherokee County, son of the late Wilson and Nellie Truett. As a boy his family moved to Gaston County, there in his youth he developed an interest in cars which became a lifelong passion. This led to a career working for Gaston County Schools Transportation Department, he started out there as a mechanic and eventually moved up to be the Assistant Director for that department. While he was there, he spearheaded their Bio-Diesel production program which was the first of its kind in North Carolina.

As a young man he became one of Jehovah's Witnesses along with his mother and his brother Johnny. His belief was important to him and shaped him into a spiritual man, he lived his life with faith and kindness, always bringing joy to those around him.

A celebration of life will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia, officiated by Grady Truett Jr.

The family will receive friends 1-2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Grady is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marcia Truett; sons, Grady Truett Jr. and wife Ashley, Gary Truett; brother, Johnny Truett; grandchildren, Josie Truett, Isabella Truett and Emily Truett.

In addition to his parents, Grady was preceded in death by brothers, David, Larry, Bob, and Frank Truett.
