Grady Lee Long Jr., 77, of Dallas, passed away July 17, 2016 at his residence.
He was born January 25, 1939, a native of Gaston County, the son of the late Grady Lee Long Sr. and Clayton Eula Hill Long.
Grady was a member of Westview Baptist Church in Gastonia. He retired as a security guard for Covenant Village. Grady was a volunteer at Dallas-High Shoals Christian Ministry. He loved his family and his special buddy, Spencer. He was an avid Atlanta Braves and Trekkie fan.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughters Rhonda and Kenny Hudson, Julie and Thomas Pettus; brother Clyde Taylor; sisters Martha Shepard and Shirley Ballew; grandchildren Jessica and Greg Owensby, Sara and Brian Burgess, Leah and Leslie Hedgpath, Kenna Jones, Brandi Underwood; great-grandchildren Jessalyn, Gracie and Anna Owensby, Lawson and Emma Burgess, Zack Jones and Bailey Underwood.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Toni Summitt Long; brother G.C. Taylor and sister Evelyn Taylor Calhoun.
A funeral service, officiated by the Revs. Jerry Millwood and Sherman Branch will be held 2 pm Wednesday at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia.
The family will receive friends 6 – 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
