Grace Manlove Herscher

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Grace Manlove Herscher, who departed this life peacefully at her home on March 17, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on January 28, 1937, Grace was a beloved resident of Bessemer City, North Carolina, where she spent her life surrounded by the community and loved ones.

Grace dedicated much of her career to serving the City of Gastonia as a secretary at a local school. Her commitment to education and the welfare of children in her community was evident in her work, as she cherished her role in supporting the teachers and students that she interacted with daily. Grace was not just a colleague but a friend to many, always offering her warm smile and encouraging words.

She enjoyed traveling to the mountains and the beach.

Above all, Grace embraced her role as a loving mother and grandmother. Grace's family and friends will forever remember her warm spirit, her laughter, and her unwavering support throughout their lives.

Grace is survived by her sons, Don Herscher (April), Richard Herscher (Julie), Robert Herscher (Catrina); her daughters, Vickie Herscher, Tina Moss and Terry Pate; twenty-three grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Buckworth and Irene Manlove; beloved companion, George Kelly; son, Billy Wilson Herscher; daughter, Susan Herscher and her brother Phillip Rigby.

Funeral services to celebrate Grace's life will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Road Gastonia City, NC, officiated by Pastor Richard Christopher. The burial will follow after the service at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Monday, March 24, 2025, at the funeral home.

Grace Herscher's memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her, as a gentle soul who found joy in the little things and who made the world a brighter place just by being in it. Her love will continue to serve as a guiding light for her family and friends.
