Glenda Lanford

Glenda Lanford, 71, formerly of Bessemer City, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021, at Largo Medical Center in Largo, Florida.

She was born on May 17, 1950, in Gaston County, to the late Charles Lanford, Sr. and Thelma Louise Ellis.

In addition to her parents, Glenda was preceded in death by her son, Richard Stewart; and brothers, Robert and Charles Lanford, Jr. and her fur babies, Buster and Missy Jo.

Left to cherish Glenda's memories are her daughter, Mischele Maples; love of her life, Harry Gibson;  sister-in-law and best friend, Rhonda Lanford; nephew, Robby Lanford; nieces, Jennifer Knowles and Christa Ellis; grandchildren, Faith Custar, Serenia Stewart, Richie Stewart and Brenda Moore; a number of great grandchildren and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Often times you could find her with a house full of guests- she was frequently  visited in Florida where she resided with her partner, Harry Gibson. The couple  reconnected nearly a decade ago after 40 years - Glenda spent her remaining  years with the love of her life and their dogs - they enjoyed sneaking off for  walks on the beach when they had the chance and spending time together in their  home. Family was the most important thing to her, and she looked forward to her daily calls from her daughter. Visits from her granddaughter Faith, family and  friends are what she says kept her youthful, she loved being one of the girls  and gossiping any time she had a chance. She is described as fierce and witty and will be missed by many.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor David Knowles, will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 216 Archie Whitesides Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 11, 2021, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Interment to follow the service Saturday at Westview Gardens, Bessemer City, NC.
