Glenda Kay Durham

Glenda Kay Durham (née Gillespie), aged 72, passed away on August 22, 2024, in Gastonia, NC. Born on November 2, 1951, in Kings Mountain, NC, Glenda was a lifelong resident of North Carolina and a cherished member of her community.

Glenda graduated from Kings Mountain High School and spent many years serving in the restaurant industry, where she was beloved by colleagues and patrons alike for her warmth and dedication. Beyond her professional life, Glenda was a passionate gardener, known for her beautiful flower arrangements and thriving indoor plants, a testament to her green thumb.

Glenda was a loving and dedicated wife to her husband, Steve Durham, for 55 years and a caring mother to her two daughters, Tara Church and Kimberly McCutcheon. Her family was the center of her life, and she extended her nurturing spirit to her son-in-laws, Mike Bruce and Gem McCutcheon, and her granddaughters, Taylor, Allison, and Karlie. Glenda also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Aurora Huckaby, Isla Lewis, and Glory Lewis, who will miss her dearly.

She was predeceased by her mother, Louise Gillespie; her sister, Donna Gillespie; and her brothers, Ronnie and Richard Gillespie. Glenda is survived by her husband, Steve Durham, her daughters Tara Church and Kimberly McCutcheon, brother, Larry Gillespie, and sister-in-law, Phyllis Gillespie, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Glenda's memory. Greene Funeral Home in Gastonia, NC, is assisting the family during this time.
