Gertrude Johnson Burns, 78, of Gastonia, passed away July 20, 2012 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. She was born February 7, 1934 in Anderson County, daughter of the late Ellis and Lula Irvin Durham. Mrs. Burns attended Care Church of Mount Holly. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Monday at Greene Funeral Service- South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd. Gastonia, NC 28052, officiated by Pastors Jerry Willard and Tim McCarn. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00 pm Monday prior to the service. She is survived by: son, Rev. Jim Burns and spouse Frances of Gastonia; daughter, Rachel Burns of Belmont; 5 brothers and 2 sisters all of SC; grandchildren, Brian Burns of Lincolnton, Samantha Cochran and spouse Tim, Barbara Taylor and spouse Scott, Shannon Moore and Emily, Daniel Moore all of Gastonia; great grandchildren, Chrisitian Taylor, Chloe Taylor, Brittany Cochran, Hope Cochran, Macayla Cochran, Devon Moore, Allie Moore; great- great grandchild, Kelsey Moore. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by: her first husband, Harold Edward Burns passed away October 9, 1976; second husband, Jesse Monroe Johnson passed away February 24, 2002; grandchildren, Robert Allen Burns, Kenneth Wayne Burns. Memorials may be sent to Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
