Geraldine Harris Parker

Geraldine Harris Parker, 91, of Bessemer City, passed away October 25, 2023, at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas.

She was born November 9, 1931, in Norfolk County, Virginia, daughter of the late James Thomas Harris and Sopheea Trakas Harris.

Geraldine was a member of Pisgah ARP Church in Gastonia, where she attended Sunday School and other church activities.

She had always taken such wonderful and loving care of her husband during their marriage, so when he had a stroke, she provided extra love and care for him for several years until his passing.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In her spare time, she was a seamstress, a gardener, and she loved tending to her flowers that she grew.

She was known for her infectious loving personality and she never met a stranger.

A funeral service will be held 2:30 pm Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Pisgah ARP Church 3600 Linwood Road Gastonia officiated by Pastor Richard Lewis.

The family will receive friends 1:00-2:15 pm prior to the service at the church.

The burial will be in the church cemetery.

Geraldine is survived by her son, Jeffery Parker and wife Susan; grandchildren, Stacey Austell and husband Jason, Lindsay Parker and wife Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Grant, Emerson and Ansley Austell, Nicholas and Olivia Parker.

In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband Walter "Wassie" Parker; her son, Gordon Parker; sisters, Amelia Simmers, Beverly Voyles.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Pisgah ARP Church 3600 Linwood Road Gastonia, NC 28052.
