Gerald "Jerry" Joseph Genovese or better known as Jerry G, 82, of Dallas, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016, at Caromont Regional Medical Center. He was born December 25, 1933, in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Joseph Genovese and Clara Gorlick Genovese. Jerry was a member and Past Master of Lowell #590 Masonic Lodge AF and AM. He was also a U.S. Marine Corps. Veteran. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Harold Genovese and daughter, Kim Wilder. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 37 years, Eddy Finlay Genovese; daughters, Gerri Collins, Rene Genovese, Gina Ramsey and husband Jason; sister, Anita Miller; grandchildren, Abby Boatwright, Jonathan Wilder, David Wilder, Justin Collins, Joe Genovese, Christian Gonzalez, Matthew Ramsey, Meagan Ramsey, Joshua Ramsey; great grandchildren, Wilder Boatwright and Felicity Boatwright. As well as numerous cousins and friends that he called family. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York where he spent most of his earlier years with the exception of his tour of duty in Korea. He moved to North Carolina in 1980 and for a short time, along with his sister, Anita, ran Angie's Spaghetti House. Later he would be known as "Jerry from the Lowell Laundry" and owner of Jerry G's Gutters. He loved riding his Honda Goldwing and traveling but most of all he loved spending time with friends, old and new. He was an amazing story teller and he knew how to make people laugh. He was full of life and enjoyed a good joke. He was selfless and didn't hesitate to lend a hand to anyone in need. We will truly miss this wonderful man. Jerry had a very special friend, Reverend Warner Doles, co-pastor at Fraley Memorial Baptist Church. He loved his talks and bible study with Warner at the Men of Honor suppers. He was a welcomed sight at Fraley as he attended many events there. Through the years, he and Warner developed a special bond, a relationship they both cherished. Warner will miss him always as so many will. A memorial service will be held 6pm on Thursday at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S York Rd, Gastonia. Pastor Charles Keller will be officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Lowell Mason Lodge, 122 Main St Lowell NC 28098. Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
