Gerald Dwight Bridges

Gerald Dwight Bridges, 77, of Cherryville, NC, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Carolina Care, Cherryville.

He was born August 11, 1945, in Troup, GA, son of the late Lester "High" and Amogene Bridges.

Gerald attended Grace Baptist Church, Gastonia. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed watching them play ball. His favorite sports teams were the Atlanta Braves and the Green Bay Packers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria "Sissy" Bridges; son, Gerald "Tarzan" Bridges; and siblings, LB Bridges, Jean Bradshaw, Reggie Bridges, Edwina Capps, Mike Bridges, Bruce Bridges, and Connie Bridges.

Gerald is survived by his son, Steve Bridges and wife Debbie; brother, Ronnie Bridges and wife Linda; grandchildren, Steven Bridges and wife Catherine, Dustin Bridges, Brandon Bridges and wife Autumn, and Matthew Haney; and several great grandchildren.

The family would like to say a very special thank you to everyone at Carolina Care for all they did to care for Gerald while he was there.

Family will receive friends 1:30-2:30pm, Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service – 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.

A graveside service officiated by Pastor David MacEacheron, will be held 3pm, Thursday, at Gaston Memorial Park - 1200 South New Hope Rd., Gastonia, NC 28054.
