George "Shank" Perkins

George "Shank" Perkins, 86, of Gastonia, passed away Friday, November 6, 2020, at his home.

He was born April 27, 1934, in Martinsville, VA, son of the late William Kelly Perkins and Gertrude Susan Dalton Perkins.

George, U.S. Army Veteran (Korean War), was a member of Centerview Baptist Church, Belmont. He was an avid Golfer and baseball umpire. George enjoyed fishing and worked at Catawba Creek Gold Course.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Porter Perkins and brothers, Bill Perkins, and Charlie Perkins.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Ginny Waller and husband, Harry; brother, John Perkins; and grandchildren, Bailey Thomasson, and Carson Thomasson.

The public graveside service will be held 2:00 pm on Friday at Hollywood 
Cemetery, Gastonia.
 
A visitation with a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. 

Memorials may be made to Centerview Baptist Church.
