George Martin

George Martin, 80, of Bessemer City, passed away March 19, 2023, at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas.

He was born October 3, 1942, Mecklenburg County, NC, son of the late Mack Martin and Mabel Walls Martin.

He attended Bright Light Baptist Church in Bessemer City.

He was a truck driver for Carolina Freight for several years.

George was always loving and very supportive of his family. He enjoyed car shows and old "Hot Rods'" and grilling out with his family.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Road, Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Ronnie Pressley, the eulogy by Robby Hedrick and the committal service by Pastor Chris Doster with vocalist Mady Hargett.

The family will receive friends 1-2 prior to the service at the funeral home.

Entombment will be at Westview Gardens Mausoleum in Bessemer City.

George is survived by his daughters, Georgette Martin, Hope Hedrick, Cindy Patterson (Curt); grandchildren, Zach Patterson (Andie), Robby Hedrick (Ashley), Madison Horne (Ethan), Megan Wylie; great-grandchildren, Bella Hedrick, Macy Hargett, Mady Hargett, Zander Patterson.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bonnie Hudson Martin; granddaughter, Tosha Patterson.

Arrangements are with the West Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, Gastonia.
