George F. Maddox Jr., 93, of Gastonia passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 7, 2018 at the Robin Johnson House.
He was born February 22, 1925, a native of Gaston County the son of the late George F. Maddox Sr. and Flossie Stowe Maddox.
George was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a proud WW II United States Army Veteran. He retired from Wix Corporation. He was an avid bird watcher and coin collector but enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything. A heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Robin Johnson House. The compassion, love and dedication shown to our Daddy (Paw Paw) and our family will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his son, Larry Maddox and wife Kaye of Gastonia; daughters, Shelby Hamilton of Gastonia and Ginger Foster and husband Phil of Front Royal, VA; brother, Gerald Maddox of Franklin, NC, sisters, Ruby Hamilton and Sherry McCall of Gastonia; grandchildren, Ragan Norris and husband Chris, Emily Foster and fiancé Gary, George Maddox III and wife, Kara, and Elizabeth Foster; and great-grandchildren, Jace, Clay, Allie, Elias, Brody, Sadie, Khesed, Anna Grace and Owen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Maddox; brothers, Tom, Bud and Bob Maddox.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Chris Norris.
The family will receive friends Tuesday 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park with military honors.
