Freida Harvey

Freida Harvey, 80, of Bowling Green, South Carolina, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.

A native of Gaston County, Freida was born April 12, 1942, to the late Phillip and Peggy Sawyer.

Freida was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Martin Dale Cross, Jeffery Scott Cross; two daughters, Cynthia Darlene Davis, Susan Huffman; three brothers, Jim Sawyer, Donald Sawyer, Buddy Sawyer; one sister, Helen Thrift; one grandson and one great-grandson.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 51 years, Arthur Harvey of Bowling Green, SC; sons, James Richard Cross Jr. and wife Dawn of Gastonia, Donald Terrell Cross of Gastonia; daughter, Deborah Lanier and husband Robert of Lincolnton, NC; brother, Bill Sawyer of Bowling Green; sister, Linda Jordan of Belmont, NC; sister-in -law, Debra Mason of Belmont, NC; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service officiated by Rev. Steve Oates will be held Monday, January 16, 2023, 11:00 AM at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd. Gastonia, NC 28052. Visitation will be one hour prior at the funeral home.

Pall Bearers will be, grandsons, Jackie Braddy, Shone Braddy, James Richard Cross III, Wyatt Martinez; great-grandsons, Dwayne Johnson and Evan Samuel Cross.

Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery in Belmont, NC.
