Freddie "Corky" Boone

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Freddie "Corky" Boone, who left us peacefully on February 21, 2025, at the age of 50. Born on May 6, 1974, Freddie was a beloved husband, father and grandfather a dedicated outdoorsman, and a cherished friend to many.

A resident of Gastonia, NC, Corky found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly through his passions for fishing and hunting. His love for the great outdoors was only rivaled by his affection for spending time at the beach, where he cherished countless memories with loved ones.

He was a member of Chapel Grove Baptist Church in Gastonia and had served as a soccer coach with Pisgah ARP Church in Gastonia for many years.

Corky will be remembered not only for his love of the outdoors but also for his warm spirit and generosity towards others. He will be missed deeply by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Alexis Baptist Church 118 Alexis Church Road Alexis NC, officiated by Pastor Scott Jenkins. The family will receive friends noon-1:00 pm prior to the service at the church.

Corky is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Dawn McClure Boone; his mother, Judy Parker (Mike); son, Landon Boone; daughters, Kendal Boone, Brittany Foster (Corry); grandchildren, Makenzie Vandegrift, Camron Vandegrift, Aaliyah Foster; great-grandchild, Morgan Mullins; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Sandy McClure; sister-in-law, Brandy Brown (Dale); brother-in-law, Caleb McClure; stepsister, Michelle Russell and husband; stepbrothers, Todd Parker, Wayne Parker; special friend, Derek Nivens; neighborhood daughter, Beth Wooten; fur baby, Alfredo.

Corky was preceded in death his brother, Butch Boone; sister, Larisa Medlin.
