Freda Marie Stalcup

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Freda Marie Stalcup, who left us peacefully on September 13, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on January 3, 1944, in West Virginia, Freda spent many happy years making a home in Pineville, North Carolina.

Freda was not just a devoted wife, spending fifty wonderful years with her late husband, Glenn A. "Butch" Stalcup Jr.; she was also an amazing mother to her two daughters, Cynthia Shelton and Nikki Como (Kiley); grandmother to, Levi Shelton (Brittany), Elijah Como and Ethan Como and her great grandchildren, Lydia Shelton, Henley Shelton and Ophelia Shelton. If you knew Freda, you likely remember her love for cooking-she had a knack for creating meals that brought family and friends together around the table.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date, at the VA Cemetery in Salisbury NC, where the family will gather to celebrate the beautiful life she lived.

Freda will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Her love and warmth will always remain in the hearts of her family and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In addition to her husband, Freda was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Jennings Porter and Ollie Baker Porter; grandson, Jude Porter Como.
